CURRENT EXHIBITION
Brooke White
Photographer Brooke White investigates the ways in which landscape and place are created and altered by travel, tourism, and agriculture. Border Crossing looks at the ways in which the act of travel alters our view of the landscape, as interpreted through the eyes of a white female traveler in East Africa, South America, Canada, and the United States.
Brooke uses paired images of animals and landscapes from her travels to investigate the role that interrupting borders (and the constant horizon) play in the lives of humans and animals. White received a 2009 Mississippi Arts Commission Award for this work, and her videos have been exhibited internationally.
At her artist talk on September 23rd, we’ll hear about her current, ongoing work, Above and Below, which looks at the Southern Louisiana coastline following the BP oil spill.
