PROGRAMS

Creative Kids Art Class

Every Saturday
11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Home Grown Film Festival

August 6, August 13, & August 27
7 p.m.

Home Grown Film Festival will feature the films of east side filmmakers.

August 6 - An outdoor family film on the lawn, featuring Sam Steele and the Junior Detective Agency, produced by Judee and Rich Sauget of Gateway Grizzlies fame. From 7 p.m. until dark, when the movie starts, families can participate in detective games and hands-on art activities. Depending on shooting schedules, the young actor Jacob Hayes may make an appearance.

August 13 - An outdoor movie featuring the film Free Dirt, by SWIC public information and marketing writer Jim Klenn. To get off the couch and back into the good graces of his wife (and back into their bed), Jerry the cheapskate only has to do one simple thing - find some free dirt. The film may be preceded by a concert by the band(s) whose music is featured in the film.

August 27 - Inside the Schmidt, this event will feature the short films by area filmmakers selected by SWIC filmmaking instructor Dan Cross.

Instant Exhibit Family Day - BYOU

Saturday, September 11
1 - 4 p.m. , Mascoutah Public Library

Bring your own "ubject," an invented word to describe unique and meaningful objects. Participants will learn how museums work as they document, record, label, and display their ubject in an ephemeral exhibit. Informal discussions about how we come to value objects will help participants see the significance these objects have in our lives. Participants will take home their ubjects and a photograph of their ubject on display. This is in conjunction with the Ubjects III exhibit, which is open August 12 - September 24.

Open to the public at no charge.
