First Impressions:

  • What do you see?
  • How do all the parts fit together?
  • Do you like it? Why or why not?

What words describe the sculpture?  Add your own words too.

Other Questions:

  • What makes the sculpture interesting?
  • The artist broke the circle and tilted the shapes that he created. Do you think it made the sculpture more interesting than creating an unbroken circle? Why?
  • Where do you think you should stand for the most interesting view of the sculpture?
  • Can you see the texture?
  • The sculpture looks smooth and seems like it would feel smooth. What does the texture do to the surface of the sculpture? What does it add?
  • Is there something about the sculpture that is soft?
  • When you look at this sculpture where do your eyes go? What direction do they move in?
  • How does the sculpture look from the side? When you move around the sculpture, how does it change?
  • The way the light hits the sculpture is very important in how the sculpture looks. Look at how the light makes the sculpture look different from different points of view.
  • If your family put this sculpture in your backyard would you treat it differently? What would your brothers and sisters do with it?
  • How does a sculpture change a place?
