Other Questions:

  • When looking at this sculpture, think about contrast or opposites. Look at the contrast of the two major shapes or forms in the piece. Look at the contrast in texture. If you were to run your hands over each piece, which one would be smooth?
  • One piece is vertical, one is horizontal. They point in different directions. What effect does the contrast between the two pieces create?
  • Sometimes using contrast makes a piece more interesting. What do you think? Do you think the two parts of this piece work together to make a statement?
  • Does this piece seem to have a front and a back? What view is more interesting?
  • How do the light and shadows affect the form and overall look of the sculpture?
  • If you were to identify the theme of this piece, what would it be? What do you think the title means?
  • If you were to move this piece to a different location, where do you think it would fit?
